Tranquil silence
When I was young, I was taught to be quiet
To never speak a single word
To never tell of the things I could see
Or the things I heard.
Silence became a sadder part of my hours
Silence was the rotted banana, a wilted flower.
Silence seemed to follow me wherever I would go
But no matter how close to me silence could have been
I always felt very alone.
But you taught me to see
The beautiful things about silence-
It can be whatever you want it to be.
It became the soft moonlight, a calming sea.
It was the slow dawning sun, another day begun.
It was that breath of air, the thud of your pulse, the brush of your hair
